Why we love it

Climb to the most famous lookout on Mt Buffalo, the Horn, sitting at the impressive height of 1,723 metres above sea level., Unpack once and spend 3 nights in the same, charming accommodation in Bright which has a toasty warm fireplace and cosy guest lounge., Explore Pretty Valley, which lives up to its name, before tackling The Jaithmathangs, a series of rugged, rocky summits amidst the vast high country plains., Explore the Victorian Alps, otherwise known as the Victorian High Country, where the 18th century gold rush left its mark., Nothing tastes as good as a locally crafted beer – and you won’t have to go far to enjoy one. Bright Brewery is right on the doorstep of your accommodation.

Is this trip right for me?

This is a walking trip so a good fitness level will help you enjoy all the included walks and activities. We suggest doing some training including some hills and taking on some uneven terrain. If you are able to get in some longer walks in your training, a safe and rewarding walking tour awaits you!

On Day 2 you will climb Mt Jaithmathang and on Day 3 Mt Feathertop. Both summits are high at 1,852 and 1,922 metres above sea level respectively. The views are fantastic but a steady head will help you enjoy them.

This trip starts early in the morning on Day 1 and finishes late in the afternoon of Day 4. Please check the exact joining and finishing details and pre-book extra accommodation if you need to.

This trip is new to our range this year. And while we have thoroughly researched every detail of the logistics, new destinations can sometimes throw us some unexpected surprises. More often than not, it’ll be a great surprise. But every now and again there might be a hiccup. We like to think that’s what puts the ‘adventure’ in ‘adventure travel’.

What to bring/pack

LUGGAGE LIMIT
Please keep your luggage size and weight to a minimum. One small soft-sided bag plus a day pack (no more than 15 kg in total per person) is essential due to limited space for luggage in our vehicles. We recommend against bringing hard/externally framed suitcases as they are difficult to store in the vehicle and can damage equipment and other travellers' belongings., https://www.intrepidtravel.com/packing-list, WATER BOTTLE
Please bring your own water bottle to refill along the way. Although it can be difficult to avoid bottled water when travelling, please use the water dispensers which are provided on some of our vehicles and at some of our accommodation. Your leader will advise whether tap water is safe to drink in your destination, if it is you can simply refill with tap water. When unable to avoid bottled water it is better to buy the largest available and distribute into your smaller bottle for the day., Be prepared for a variety of weather, with the possibility of cold, windy and wet conditions and in the warmer months hot days as well . It is not necessary to ‘dress’ for evening meals; casual, comfortable clothing is sufficient.

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS:

On most days, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included. Your leader will prepare most of the meals whilst on tour.

None of this is difficult however many hands make light work and any assistance provided to crew is always much appreciated. Most people agree that this type of activity helps you feel like less of a tourist and more of an explorer.

All food for this trip is purchased and packed prior to your group leaving on day one. After we’ve left town it can be very difficult to source special dietary requests.

Travellers with special dietary requirements or food allergies are required to advise us at the time of booking.

In case of emergency

While we always endeavour to provide the best possible holiday experience, due to the nature of travel and the areas we visit sometimes things can and do go wrong. Should any issue occur while you are on your trip, it is imperative that you discuss this with your group leader or our local representative straight away so that they can do their best to rectify the problem and save any potential negative impact on the rest of your trip.

We recognise that there may be times when your group leader/local partner may not be able to resolve a situation to your satisfaction - if this is the case, please ask the leader to speak to their direct manager.

You may also choose to provide details in your online feedback, which we ask you to complete within 30 days of the end of your trip.
