Day 1: Oslo

Welcome to Norway! Upon arrival, head out and explore the modern city of Oslo. Perhaps find your way to the National Gallery of Art to admire the iconic “Scream” painting by Edvard Munch. Or, wander around and sample regional cuisine while checking out some of the local shops. This evening, meet your Local Leader and the rest of the group at a welcome meeting and enjoy your first Norwegian dinner! (d)

Day 2: Oslo

This morning we explore the highlights of Oslo on a walking tour. Learn about Norway's history by visiting the Barcode District, the Harbor Promenade and the Royal Palace. This afternoon enjoy some time unscripted — perhaps venture out to the Holmenkollbakken ski jump. Check out the attached museum, which follows the history of skiing over the past 4,000 years, as well as the Olympics that were once held there. If you're a fan of panoramic views, be sure to make it to the top of the ski jump for a stunning 360-degree view. (b)

Day 3: Oslo > Bergen

Today, relax and enjoy the stunning landscape of Norway as we travel by train to the charming city of Bergen. These views are nearly unmatched, as this is the highest altitude train in Europe. We cross the Hardangervidda Plateau, spotting picturesque lakes, whimsical villages and striking mountain scenes. Once we arrive in Bergen, grab a bit to eat —perhaps some local seafood —and relax before tomorrow's outing! (b)

Day 4: Bergen

This morning we head out after breakfast for a guided walking tour through Bryggen. This area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most iconic harbor cities in the world. Later, we hop on a funicular to scale the side of Mount Floyen for unforgettable views of Bergen. (b)

Day 5: Mostraumen > Bergen

Embrace the natural landscape today as we board a catamaran and cruise through the iconic fjords of coastal Norway. We make our way through the Hordaland province to the quaint town of Modale, witnessing some of the most narrow fjords in the world. Sit back and enjoy the view with a drink in hand from the onboard bar! This afternoon, write your own narrative — with free time upon arrival back in Bergen. (b)

Day 6: Trondheim

We say goodbye to Bergen this morning as we hop on a quick flight to Trondheim. Hit the highlights on a summertime biking tour or wintertime walking tour of Ilsvikøra, Kalvskinnet, Nidaros Cathedral, Archbishop’s Palace Erkebispegården, Bakklandet, Solsiden and Brattøra. Spend the rest of the day unscripted, exploring this beautiful, historic city. (b)

Day 7: Trondheim > Tromsø

Today we head north to the city of Tromso! Upon arrival we check in to our hotel before familiarizing ourselves with our home for the next two days. We explore some of the oldest parts of town which date back to the Middle Ages. Learn about the history of the area, leading up to modern day, and visit the Polar museum as well as an authentic Norwegian pub. (b)

Day 8: Tromsø

Get your camera ready! Today we hop on board a Polar Fjord Cruise to spot wildlife and stunning scenery. We may even see porpoises and sea eagles! While on the ship enjoy traditional local fresh arctic fish, snacks and drinks. If traveling during the wintertime, the cruise will be traded for a Northern Lights hunt through authentic Norwegian countryside. After getting back from sightseeing, gather in the evening for one last dinner with the group. (b, d)

Day 9: Tromsø

Depart any time today. Say goodbye to your newfound friends, and reminisce about an incredible journey! (b)

Things to know before traveling to Norway

The official currency in Norway is the Norwegian Krone (NOK).

ATMs are available in most towns, so the easiest way to access cash on your trip is to bring a credit/debit card. Please check with your bank about overseas withdrawal fees before you depart. Some banks will allow a cash advance against a major credit card which will incur a service charge of 5% or more. Currency exchange is available at major banks and some hotels.

Norway can be an expensive destination in many ways, from museum entrance fees to outdoor activities, but especially in terms of eating out. Your Leader will be able to advise on how to save money.

The Norwegian climate is very unpredictable the whole year round thus we recommend to all our guests to bring good sturdy shoes for trekking, a warm wind and rainproof jacket and trousers, gloves or mittens, good head wear and sunglasses.

The destinations visited on this trip can be cold throughout the year, especially at the start and end of the season and at night. Please bring appropriate clothing for adverse weather conditions. There may be the rare occasion where your leader has to alter the itinerary and activities due to the weather. In this case an alternative will be offered.

The closer you travel to the second half of June, the shorter the nights are in this part of the world. As many of our accommodations may not have suitable curtains to block out light you may want to consider bringing an eye-mask, especially if you are a light sleeper.

While travelling with us you'll experience the vast array of wonderful food available in the world. Your group leader will be able to suggest restaurants to try during your trip. To give you maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, generally not all meals are included in the trip price. This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. Typically our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There's no obligation to do this though.

Visas are the responsibility of the individual traveler. Entry requirements can change at any time, so it’s important that you check for the latest information. Please visit the relevant consular website of the country or countries you’re visiting for detailed and up-to-date visa information specific to your nationality. Your consultant will also be happy to point you in the right direction with acquiring visas. Visas can take several weeks to process, so familiarize yourself with any requirements as soon as you have booked your trip to allow for processing time.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. We require that, at a minimum, you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. Please ask your travel agent or Club Adventures team member for insurance options at time of booking.
