Day 1: Amman

Ahlan wa Sahlan! Welcome to Jordan, where a centuries-old legacy of hospitality comes alive. An included transfer brings you to our hotel. Gather with your Local Leader and fellow travelers this evening for a welcome meeting.

Day 2: Amman > Jerash > Dead Sea > Amman

The striking archways, theaters, buildings and cobbled streets of Jerash await us today. After, rejuvenate and restore with a visit to the Dead Sea. Float in the landlocked, mineral-rich waters that are 10 times saltier than sea water. The mud is a soothing mixture of minerals and is said to have healing properties. (b, l)

Day 3: Amman > Wadi Rum

Leaving Amman, Jordan’s capital, we explore Wadi Rum — a landscape of ruggedly desolate, yet wildly riveting sandstone mountains. We’ll be greeted at a Bedouin camp, our home for the night. Later, we experience a home-cooked meal. (b, d)

Day 4: Wadi Rum > Aqaba

This morning, choose to experience the desert by camel or on foot. Our next stop is the beach resort of Aqaba, located on the northern tip of the Red Sea. Known for some of the world’s best marine life, we enjoy an afternoon boat ride and opportunity to snorkel. (b)

Day 5: Aqaba > Petra

Our adventure continues as we travel to Petra. We stop at the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, where T.E. Lawrence’s book of the same name was based. We arrive in the small town of Petra and are treated to an immersive cooking class before our big day tomorrow. (b, d)

Day 6: Petra

The jewel of Jordan, Petra dates back to the 6th century B.C. Here, nature and man joined forces to create a world wonder. This lost city of the biblical Nabateans is an impressive series of tombs and dwellings, hidden behind ornate façades carved directly into the rock. (b, d)

Day 7: Petra > Amman

Today, you may opt to venture to the High Place of Sacrifice before visiting the ancient village at Dana — where local artisans display their crafts. Next, we head to Madaba — home to several fine Byzantine mosaics. Back in Amman, the evening is yours to discover the city. (b)

Day 8: Amman

Our moving adventure through Jordan ends today. (b)

Things to know before traveling to Jordan

When it comes to money matters on the trip, every traveler is a little different. You know your spending habits better than we do, so please budget a sensible amount for things like meals not included, drinks, shopping, optional activities, tipping and laundry. It’s always better to bring a little more than you think you’ll need.

Also make sure you’ve read your trip details thoroughly so you know what’s included in the trip price and what isn’t. This should make budgeting a little easier.

Meals Not Included

Breakfast: All breakfasts are included, so you're all set there!

Lunch: Lunch at a touristy restaurant should cost around USD10 to USD20. However, local street food can be substantially cheaper.

Dinner: At dinner time, your leader will normally recommend restaurants where you can safely try the local specialties of the region. Expect meals to cost between USD15 to USD25 for a main.

These are indicative prices only. If you are in a tight budget and are happy to eat just local food you can eat cheaper than this. If you want to try the finest food at the finest restaurants, then you can expect meals to cost as much as in western countries.

Dietary Requirements

Your group leader or representative will endeavor to cater for specific dietary requirements where possible, and vegetarianism and gluten intolerance will be catered for in most instances. There are, however some meals and activities that are fixed in advance and therefore cannot be modified to suit dietary requirements.

Please notify your booking consultant of any dietary requirements at the time of booking. For those suffering from particular food allergies, your group leader or representative will endeavor to disclose to their fullest knowledge the main ingredients in dishes being consumed. It is, however, your personal responsibility to ensure that you do not ingest any foods to which you are allergic.

There is quite a bit of walking involved in visiting Jordan's historic sites, especially in Petra and Wadi Rum, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Most of the time there is no shade so remember to bring a hat, sun protection, and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes.

Wadi Rum

In Wadi Rum we stay in a permanent tented camp with shared bathroom facilities. Please be aware that while the desert may be very hot during the day, it will still be cool at night and warm clothes and a sleeping bag is highly recommended when travelling outside of the summer months.

Heating & Air Conditioning

As a desert region, this part of the world has extremes of weather. Winter months (approx December to March) can be very cold. All of our hotel accommodation contains suitable bedding, and simple light bedding is provided during camping activities such as the desert camps. Most of our travelers find the bedding provided here adequate, but for your own comfort and if you are particularly sensitive to the cold, consider bringing your own sleeping bag, thermals, scarf, gloves and a warm jacket. Some of our guesthouses / hotels don't supply heating. In many cases this would be a major financial and environmental strain on our hotels and the local towns. Summer (approx June to August) can be very hot everywhere we travel, which means that it can be quite uncomfortable for those not used to the heat. Not all our hotels have air-conditioning, and in those that do, it's not always functioning.

Grand Palace Hotel

The Grand Palace Hotel is a comfortable, clean hotel in Amman. The hotel offers a restaurant, pool, bar/lounge, gym, spa, laundry services and free WiFi. All guest rooms are all fitted with air-conditioning, minibar, safebox and wireless internet access with large bathrooms. The rooms are fitted with sound proof windows. Connected and triple rooms are also available.

Visas are the responsibility of the individual traveler. Entry requirements can change at any time, so it’s important that you check for the latest information. Please visit the relevant consular website of the country or countries you’re visiting for detailed and up-to-date visa information specific to your nationality. Your consultant will also be happy to point you in the right direction with acquiring visas. Visas can take several weeks to process, so familiarize yourself with any requirements as soon as you have booked your trip to allow for processing time.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. We require that, at a minimum, you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. Please ask your travel agent or Club Adventures team member for insurance options at time of booking.
