Day 1: Las Vegas > Zion National Park

Welcome to the Southwest! Get ready to embrace the wild west as we explore some of the country’s great natural treasures. You’ll meet your group in Vegas for a Welcome Meeting this morning and then board the private bus to transfer to Zion National Park. After a picnic lunch, our Local Leader will brief us on the various self-guided walks and trails available, such as Scout Lookout Trail. Tonight, enjoy a “Dessert and Chat” with your fellow travelers! Afterward, you can relax under the stars, or head out for a stroll around the property. (l)

*Please note, Club Adventures and Girl Scouts cannot guarantee that any departure will be exclusively female.

SPECIAL INFORMATION
There is no accommodation included in Las Vegas on this trip. On day one, please make your own way to the Alexis Park Resort by 8 a.m. sharp – this is where you will meet your Local Leader.

ANGELS LANDING HIKE:
For those who wish to hike to Angels Landing in Zion National Park, a permit awarded through a lottery system is now required. We recommend Scout Lookout Trail as a suitable alternative which covers all but the final 0.5 miles/0.8 kms of the Angels Landing hike. However, if you would like to try for a permit, please visit https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/angels-landing-hiking-permits.htm.

Day 2: Bryce Canyon

After breakfast, we’ll be heading to Bryce Canyon National Park for the day. Following a short drive in our private, air-conditioned vehicle, we’ll reach an elevation of 8,000 feet and officially enter Bryce National Park. From here, we’ll spend the morning hiking, with a stroll along the canyon rim to marvel at the unique sandstone spires (known as hoodoos) that rise dramatically from the natural amphitheater. A picnic lunch is included, so you’ll have time to rest and relax with your fellow travelers. Later, hike down into the hoodoos for an up close and personal experience with this fascinating landscape before heading back to the ranch at about 4 p.m. for free time. Dinner is a traditional Dutch oven meal of classic dishes like ribs and cornbread. (b, l, d)

Day 3: Monument Valley

After breakfast, we’ll hop back into our private vehicle to head to Monument Valley for the day. The southbound drive will take us through lots of the Southwest’s spectacular scenery, past Lake Powell, until we reach one of the most iconic locations on the planet. Monument Valley is the set for many famous western movies, so it may look quite familiar. But, most importantly, it’s the native land of the Navajo. Once we arrive, we’ll hop in a 4x4 Jeep and enjoy a Navajo- guided tour of Monument Valley, where we’ll have the chance to learn more about their rich culture and history in the area. Then we’ll sit down to a traditional home-cooked, family-style Navajo lunch. After lunch, we’ll make our way back towards the ranch, stopping at the famous Horseshoe Bend for an incredible photo opportunity. Once back at the ranch, you’ll have time to rest and recuperate after a fun-filled day. Tonight, gather for a Girl Scout closing ceremony to reflect on our adventure. (b, l)

Day 4: Peekaboo Slot Canyon > Las Vegas

After breakfast, drive out to visit a secret slot canyon called Peekaboo, which is reminiscent of Petra’s Siq in Jordan. Your Local Leader will be able to show you around the coral sands and towering walls of this lesser-known local gem. After a picnic lunch, depart for Las Vegas where our trip will come to an end. (b, l)

Private Group Options

Want a once-in-a-lifetime reunion with your now-scattered friends or Girl Scout sisters? Set up an exclusive adventure with just your crew! All it takes is six travelers to lock in flexible departure dates and plan an incredible adventure.

Things to know before your trip

Vaccinations

You should consult your doctor for up-to-date medical travel information or for any necessary vaccinations before departure. We recommend that you carry a first aid kit as well as any personal medical requirements as they may not easily be obtained at the locations on this trip. Please ensure that you are adequately prepared.

Hydration & Sun Protection

The most likely medical incidents to occur on our trips are dehydration, over exposure to the sun, and twisted ankles from walking on uneven ground. While hiking please ensure you drink enough water to remain hydrated as some hikes don't have refill stations for your water bottles. The sun (especially in desert areas in the West) can be harsh, particularly in the warmer months. Ensure you apply adequate sun protection cream and wear a hat. Travelling with sunburn can be uncomfortable.

Cuisine

While travelling with us you'll experience the vast array of wonderful food available in the world. Your group leader will be able to suggest restaurants to try during your trip. To give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, generally not all meals are included in the trip price. This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. As a rule our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There's no obligation to do this though.

On our lodging tours we eat in local restaurants where passengers pay individually for each of their meals and drinks. Average hotel breakfasts cost from US$6-$15, lunches from US$8-$20 and dinners from US$15-$35; this does not include alcoholic beverages. Wine costs approximately US$10 per glass and beer US$7 per bottle.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. We require that, at a minimum, you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. Please ask your travel agent or Club Adventures team member for insurance options at time of booking.
