Day 1: Arrive in Anchorage

Welcome to Alaska! Pick up your rental car then head to your hotel to begin your adventure. Looking for something to fill in your first evening in the city? Consider driving out in search of moose – there are plenty of great spots to try and find them just outside the city. Or, check out the city’s thriving craft beer scene and pair it with local delicacies like reindeer sausage or king crab!

Day 2: Anchorage

For your first full day in Alaska, consider getting out into the Last Frontier to enjoy the gorgeous landscape carved out by thousands of years of glacial erosion. Perhaps join a flora and fauna nature walk in Chugach State Park for a delicious picnic lunch with a great view! Or, stay in the city and learn more about the indigenous people of Alaska on a native historic cultural tour. The narrative is yours to write!

Day 3: Anchorage to Talkeetna

In the morning, it’s up to you whether you want to explore more of Anchorage or head up to Talkeetna early! The drive is just over two hours with plenty of gorgeous sights to be seen along the way. Upon arrival, choose to join an afternoon tour to take advantage all the nearby Denali National Park has to offer. Perhaps hop a traditional covered wagon ride or go rafting down the Nenana Gorge rapids. Whatever you choose, be sure to check out the quaint downtown area of Talkeetna for an understanding of what life in inland Alaska is like.

Day 4: Talkeetna & Denali

Today is the day to explore Denali to its fullest! Perhaps join learn more about sled dogs in an off-the-grid homestead that shows you just how essential these animals are to living in such a remote location. Want something a little more active? Consider joining a longer hiking tour where a naturalist guide takes you along the wilderness trails through tundra, taiga, and boreal forest areas!

Day 5: Talkeetna to Seward

Start your journey early today as you have a long trip ahead of you! Weave your way through the rugged Alaskan landscape as you make your way past Anchorage to the coastal port of Seward. Spend your afternoon and evening strolling along the waterfront popping in and out of the charming stores that line the downtown area. Or if you visit during the summer, take advantage of Alaska’s midnight sun and have a longer day of exploration in the town of Homer that offers beautiful fjord views and great restaurants lining the water.

Day 6: Seward

Today, consider joining a day-long tour of the area. There’s so much to see right around Seward from oceanic wildlife to thousand year old glaciers, and you decide to write the script for your adventure – so, what’s the best that can happen? Perhaps hop on a Kenai Fjords National Park cruise to float past icebergs and spot bald eagles. Or, head to nearby Exit Glacier for ice-hiking options! Looking to stay on solid land? Seward is the Mural Capital of Alaska and for any art-lover, they’re definitely worth checking out!

Day 7: Farewell

Today, head back to Anchorage for your flight home after an amazing road trip through Alaska!

Seward: Resurrection Bay Kayaking Adventure

This is your opportunity for us to show you first-hand the beauty of Seward, Lowell Point, and Resurrection Bay. While making our way to our kayaking location, learn about life in Seward, both past and present, from your driver-guide, who will narrate as we make our way through town. As we leave the paved streets of Seward, we’ll travel along the shoreline of Resurrection Bay on the gravel surface of Lowell Road. We’ll view turquoise blue waters and beautiful mountain vistas while we travel comfortably by van to our private beach. Upon reaching our launch location, you’ll meet your kayaking guides for a quick briefing before heading out onto the water. It’s common to encounter sea otters, harbor seals, bald eagles and leaping salmon as we kayak. We may stop to take a short walk on the beach along Tonsina Creek to view a salmon spawning stream (active mid-July to early-September). This the perfect trip for those experiencing kayaking for the first time or for those short on time.
