Itinerary
Welcome to Perth! Your day begins bright and early with a 7.45am pick up and four hour drive to Cape Naturaliste. Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse is the perfect spot to enjoy a tasty picnic lunch and get to know your group. After you’ve enjoyed the view, hit the trail for the first leg of the Cape to Cape Track. With two expert guides leading the tour, you’ll enjoy more safety on the track, more flexibility with pacing and less waiting time for transfers and meals. We’ll start off easy with plenty of time to enjoy the views across clifftops and beaches and listen to the crashing waves before your walk finishes in Yallingup at around 5pm. At the end of today continue to our camp site in Gracetown, where you will spend the evening.
Today it’s time for a spectacular coastal section of the Cape to Cape Track. Begin your walk back in Yallingup where you finished off yesterday, then pass by giant red granite boulders, pristine white sand beaches and a colourful collection of wildflowers along the way. Stop off at Injidup Bay for lunch, a spot known for amazing surf and a natural spa. After lunch, pay a visit to the beautiful Quinninup Falls, then continue to the Wilyabrup Sea Cliffs where today’s walk will come to an end. Return to our base in Gracetown.
Today is a big one but there’s an option to shorten the walk if you aren’t sure 25 km is for you. Hit the trail and enjoy more unforgettable views of the ever-changing coastal landscape, and the sight of the rugged red Wilyabrup Cliffs, then head to Gracetown’s sheltered bay. Continue walking through coastal heath to the Ellensbrook historic homestead where you can take a break in the delightful grounds before venturing inland to gain an appreciation of the area’s diverse landscape. Stop off for lunch then return to the coast and walk across a stretch of beach which leads you to the mouth of the Margaret River, where you may like to take a refreshing swim to round off the day. Return to Gracetown for the night.
After you’ve enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by your guides, you’ll enjoy gentle terrain and varied views on today’s walk. Head back to the mouth of the Margaret River, then start to head inland and stop by the Boodjidup Brook for a scenic morning tea before the trail heads back to the coast and travels across the beach. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy a spot of lunch in Redgate then continue across the stunning clifftops to Contos Campground for afternoon tea. Hit the trail once again for the final leg of the day, through the beautiful and shady Boranup Karri Forest. Head to our campsite you will be staying at for the next 3 nights at Hamelin Bay, with its white sands, where the water is an unbelievably bright shade of blue. As always, a warm shower awaits and your guides will have a freshly cooked dinner on the table for you to enjoy tonight – the dream of every hiker!
Head back to Boranup Forest where you left off yesterday. Soak up the silence on a morning walk through karri forest and take in the scent of eucalyptus from the surrounding landscape. Today’s trail will lead you to our base at Hamelin Bay - a wonderful spot to enjoy a picnic lunch. After lunch, you’ll set off towards the Foul Bay Lighthouse. This hike is short yet challenging, but it’ll all be worth it once you see the fantastic views along the coast. Today’s walk will draw to a close in Cosy Corner. Return to Hamlin Bay for the night.
Return to Cosy Corner to tackle the final bit of the Cape to Cape Track. Keep an eye out for blowholes as you walk along the limestone coastline and listen to the sea. After crossing a long stretch of beach, venture inland, then return to the coast at the historic Cape Leeuwin Water Wheel, the finishing point of the Cape to Cape Track. If time permits, walk up to the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, the perfect location to take a moment and reflect on all you’ve accomplished in the past week. Tonight you may like to head out for dinner (optional) with your group to celebrate the penultimate night of your trip and a wonderful walking adventure.
After all that walking you’ll enjoy a well-deserved lie in and a leisurely breakfast. Perhaps take a last stroll down to the stunning beach of Hamelin Bay or simply kick back and relax. Then it’s time to head back to where it all started by driving back to Perth (approximately 4 hours) You can expect to arrive at around 3pm, at which point your trip will come to an end.
