Is this trip right for me?
This is a hiking trip, so a good fitness level will help you enjoy all included hikes and activities.
This trip involves hiking up to 10 km per day and up to a total of 29 km across the trip. You can expect significant elevation gain/loss.
While the hikes are relatively short (and you can choose to do a shorter option if that suits you better) the trails take you down into the canyon and can be steep. Occasionally you’ll walk on uneven gravel surfaces. We include trekking poles and day packs so there's no need to bring your own.
Summer temperatures can be very hot, especially on trails that have little or no shade. It’s essential to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
Some trails will require unexpected maintenance throughout the year, requiring closure of the trail. If that is the case you’ll take an alternative trail with similar features, distances and elevation where possible.
On this trip you’ll be carrying an included daypack on each hike with your essentials like water, small snacks and sun protection.
This tour does not provide an airport transfer, but provides transfers from Flagstaff to and from the Grand Canyon.

Physical rating
You’re in for a walking trip and a good level of fitness is essential. Please read through the trip notes carefully to ensure that this trip is the right trip for you.
If you’re already a regular exerciser, it might be an idea to up your game a little. Run those extra laps, or take few longer walks, ideally with a day pack on your back. If you’re not exercising so regularly (2-3 times a week), it’s important to start in the weeks leading up to your departure (4-6 weeks prior at least). Your best choice would be to start walking regularly 2-3 times a week including at least one longer walk (up to 15 km). It’s important to not only walk on flat surface, so if you cannot access a hilly terrain easily, walking up and down the stairs is a good replacement. Top that up with some general fitness exercises and any other cardio related classes and you will see a huge progress in your fitness levels.
This trip involves hiking up to 6 miles/10 km per day, and up to a total of 18 miles/29 km per trip. You can expect significant elevation gain/loss of up to 2500 ft/765 m.
This trip follows well-maintained trails that are moderately rugged in places, mostly due to logs that need to be stepped over, or sections with some water erosion. Our hikes have significant elevation gains and losses over moderate distances.
