Activity Levels
We believe that an adventurous spirit spans all ages. Mothers and daughters traveling together to Europe. Empty nesters finally exploring Southeast Asia. Or, college students conquering a heart-pumping trek to Machu Picchu.
We know that adventure moves each of us differently. This is why there is a Club Adventures experience to suit every type of traveler and fitness level. Each tour has an activity level (ranging from a 1 to 5) to help you decide the kind of physical movement you want while traveling. This way, you’ll know what to expect from your trip, from relaxing to strenuous. Here’s how we break it down:
Activity Level 1
These tours include light activity like walking tours and minimal stairs and are a great fit for all kinds of travelers. On occasion you may need to walk with your luggage for a short distance from transportation to your accommodations.
Activity Level 2
Expect some easy-medium physical activities included on your tour like longer walking tours, hilly destinations, and potentially uneven terrain. Also, while some destinations may be somewhat more demanding due to altitude or steep hills, there may be a mode of transportation to get you where you need to go – should you want to forgo walking. On occasion you may need to walk with your luggage for a short distance from transportation to your accommodations which may involve stairs.
Activity Level 3
These tours involve a variety of active experiences including hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing steps or longer walking tours. We recommend a good level of fitness to enjoy these tours. On occasion you may need to walk with your luggage for a short distance from transportation to your accommodations which may involve stairs.
Activity Level 4
This adventure is active, with some strenuous activities such as trekking or high-altitude hikes. You’ll want to be preparing in advance of these trips. If you are visiting a destination with higher altitude, we recommend doing some shorter hikes (ideally on hills or mountains) to prepare. On occasion you will walk with your luggage for a short distance from transportation to your accommodations potentially on uneven terrain or stairs.
Activity Level 5
These adventures are for our high-adrenaline travelers – with heavy exercise, high altitudes, extensive treks and other intense activities involved, you’ll definitely want to be training in advance. Some of these destinations are subject to extreme weather conditions, so the rating also coincides with the conditions you may encounter during your physical activity. While you are not expected to trek with your full luggage on most tours, you will likely need to carry a small/medium day pack to trek with.
