Day 1: Anchorage Cycling

Welcome to Anchorage, the gateway to some of Alaska’s finest parks and cycling trails. Your trip begins with a midday welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers. Afterwards, enjoy a warm-up ride along the paved Tony Knowles Coastal Trail as it hugs the shore of Cook Inlet from downtown Anchorage through coastal marshes and over forested hills, with great views of Mount Susitna along the way. At 32kms (20 miles), it’s a ride that will give you a great taste of the amazing scenery that Anchorage has to offer. After the ride, you’re free to freshen up and head out to the vibrant downtown area where you may like to enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants.

Day 2: Denali National Park Hiking

After an early breakfast, settle back and enjoy the drive along the Parks Highway to Denali National Park as you keep an eye out for caribou and other wildlife. Stop in charming Talkeetna to stretch your legs and perhaps enjoy a bite to eat before we arrive at the park, go to the visitor centre for a park safety overview then head into the wilderness for your first hike. Wind through spruce forest as you hike upwards on the spectacular Triple Lakes Trail, Denali’s longest trail, which has great views of Riley Creek and towering mountains in the distance before the first of the three Triple Lakes comes into view. From here, we will either continue onwards if time permits or return to the trailhead and then back to the hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Denali National Park Hiking

Today you have the choice of either hiking with your guide or, if you feel like resting your legs, enjoying an optional bus tour of the park. The routes will vary depending on the weather an the preference of your group. For those who want to see more of the park rather than hiking, there is the option to pay for the full-day Tundra Wilderness Bus Tour which includes the Toklat River’s incredible scenery and some of the park’s best wildlife spotting opportunities.

Day 4: Denali to Seward

Today is a very early start as you enjoy a long but scenic drive (approximately 7 hours) back through Anchorage and down the Parks Highway to Seward, one of Alaska's oldest and most picturesque towns. This vibrant town is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park and has galleries, boutique shops and a bustling harbour to discover.

Day 5: Seward Sea Kayaking

Enjoy a change of scenery as you venture out onto Resurrection Bay on an early morning half-day sea kayaking adventure that’s suitable for all levels of experience. After a quick briefing, paddle around the calm turquoise waters, enjoying beautiful mountain vistas as you keep an eye out for sea otters, seals, bald eagles and leaping salmon. From mid-July to early-September, you will paddle directly past the outlet of Tonsina Creek to view a salmon spawning stream. After you’ve dried off you have ample free time to discover all that Seward has to offer. Perhaps head back out onto Resurrection Bay on a Kenai Fjords boat tour to spot wildlife including orcas and whales, visit the nearby Alaska SeaLife Center, enjoy the tide pools at Lowell Point, or even learn about dogsledding – the choice is yours.

Day 6: Exit Glacier Hike/Anchorage

Before you leave beautiful Seward there’s time for a classic Alaskan hike to Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. You’ll get so close to the dense, blue ice that you’ll be able to listen to the sound of the glacier. It’s then time to drive back (approximately 2.5 hours) to Anchorage where your adventure finishes on arrival. If you wish to spend more time here, we can book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability).
