Day 1: Athens

Kalimera! Welcome to Greece. Head to your hotel on an included transfer. Meet your Local Leader and fellow Girl Scout travelers tonight at a welcome meeting. After, we’ll head out as a group for dinner at a local restaurant. (d)

*Please note, Club Adventures and Girl Scouts cannot guarantee that any departure will be exclusively female.

Day 2: Athens

Today, we will visit one of the most recognizable sights in Athens: The Acropolis. Our Insider Expert will lead the way as we learn more about ancient Greek civilization and culture. Next, we'll meet a Girl Scout alum who owns a local shop in Syntagma Square. She will share with us her experience as a Girl Scout, as well as her knowledge of local Greek handicrafts and how you can make the best of your shopping experience while traveling! The remainder of the day is unscripted, so you can write your own adventure. Tonight, we’ll enjoy an extraordinary Greek culinary experience with a foodie tour as the lit-up views of Athens surround us. (b, foodie tour)

Day 3: Athens > Syros

Cruising the glistening blue waters of Greece, we ferry toward Syros—a hidden gem of the islands where Greek tradition and Western influence exist harmoniously. Upon arrival, we’ll stop at a family-run loukoumi workshop where we’ll learn how to make the traditional multi-colored fruit jellies. We’ll also try chalvadopita—a local favorite. This evening, you'll have the chance to join your fellow travelers for a "Dessert and Chat" to enjoy some local sweets. (b, l)

Day 4: Syros

Today is yours to choose your own adventure. Perhaps you'd like to wander through the fortress-like town of Ana Syros to see its cathedral dedicated to Saint George and the amazing views of the Aegean Sea. Meander up the stairs to the top of the hill—passing through narrow streets with traditional whitewashed houses as you go—before reaching the breathtaking views of the island. (b)

Day 5: Syros > Mykonos

We ferry this morning toward Mykonos, a beautiful island named in honor of Apollo’s grandson, now known for its decadence, style, and nightlife. We’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before an evening dedicated to exploring all the island has to offer. (b, l)

Day 6: Mykonos > Delos > Mykonos

This morning, we’ll head to the nearby island of Delos by ferry. One of the most important archeological sites in all of Greece, this island is considered the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. Together with your Insider Expert, you'll dive deep into the history of this magical place while exploring the island. Return to Mykonos for an included dinner. (b, d)

Day 7: Mykonos > Santorini

Transfer by ferry to our last stop, the island of Santorini, known for the iconic, blue-domed buildings clinging to its cliff face. After settling into our hotel, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant and then get out and explore the town! (b, l)

Day 8: Santorini

In 1500 B.C., a volcanic eruption sank the center of Santorini, forming the awe-inspiring caldera. Today, we’ll explore the crater rim as we walk from Oia through numerous little villages, passing breathtaking cliffs and views along the way. Afterward, we’ll head to Akrotiri to learn about the history of this Minoan-age settlement. On our way back to the hotel, we’ll make a few stops at local wineries to try the different unique wines the island has to offer. Our last night is capped off with a farewell dinner and closing ceremony while we enjoy the stunning sunset. (b, d)

Day 9: Santorini

Our Grecian adventure ends today. Your transfer is included to Santorini International Airport. (b)

Things to know before your trip

Currency

The official currency of Greece is the Euro (EUR).

Cuisine

Vegetarians might find the menu selection less varied than they would see at home. Vegetarianism is not as common in this region and generally the choices are basic, involving vegetables, soups, salads, bread, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, eggs etc. Vegans and those on gluten-free diets may find this region very challenging and may need to supplement meals with their own supplies from supermarkets and markets. Wherever possible we will cater for dietary needs for any included meals, but there may be times when those with special requirements may need to provide their own.

Weather

Summer temperatures in Greece can reach up to 100°F, which can be uncomfortable for those not used to the heat. On the other hand, early in the season (April) many businesses may still be closed and the weather is unpredictable, however you may have some of the major sights of the Greek islands almost to yourself. Please consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.

Terrain

Please be aware that some of the Greek Islands are very hilly and mountainous, which means lots & lots of steps are an inherent feature of the landscape. You will have to be able to easily lift your luggage and carry it up and down stairs and inclines. Also, stone streets become very slippery when wet. Some people may find Greece's topography very demanding.

Public Ferries

The main means of transportation on this trip is by public ferry. These ferries are large car ferries that transport hundreds of people, along with cars and trucks. There are no reserved seats and passengers are free to walk around the ferry freely. Luggage is stored in a designated area on the car deck and is not accessible while the ferry is moving.

It's important that your bags can be locked, as on local transport it may be necessary that your luggage gets stowed separately (and unattended). The smaller your bag the better for you and other passengers. To ensure maximum comfort, try to pack small and light.

Visas

Visas are the responsibility of the individual traveler. Entry requirements can change at any time, so it’s important that you check for the latest information. Please visit the relevant consular website of the country or countries you’re visiting for detailed and up-to-date visa information specific to your nationality. Your consultant will also be happy to point you in the right direction with acquiring visas. Visas can take several weeks to process, so familiarize yourself with any requirements as soon as you have booked your trip to allow for processing time.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. We require that, at a minimum, you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. Please ask your travel agent or Club Adventures team member for insurance options at time of booking.
