While Prohibition made alcohol illegal in 1920s New York, the city still retained an illicit bar scene. This tour will visit some of the city’s self-styled “speakeasies” and historic watering holes to enjoy drinks (own cost) with a dose of history. As we explore Midtown Manhattan, savor each bar’s atmosphere alongside bootlegger and Gilded Age stories from your guide. Enjoy some time to relax and enjoy an early dinner before heading to Alphabet City. This neighborhood’s name comes from Avenues A, B, C, and D - the only avenues in Manhattan to have single-letter names. It’s also home to Death & Co - a perfect place to end our historic day. Here the bartenders in bow ties and suspenders recall the speakeasy days era at this dark, moody cocktail lounge.
